Go Kart Wheels

Okay, so go kart wheels are not the most important part of the go kart, but they sure can make your kart look great! Just make sure you choose the correct go kart rim width for your go kart chassis.

Obviously, kart wheels are much small than your normal automobile wheels, with common sizes being 4”, 5”, 6”, 6” and 10”. Go kart rims are generally made of aluminum, or a magnesium allow, so they are strong and yet lightweight.

One of the best go kart wheels suppliers is Douglas, with their highly acclaimed works that have been famous throughout the years in different karting events. Douglas Wheels Technology is known as an authentic supplier of motorsport parts and karting wheels since they began their business in 1991.

The founder itself is a racer; hence he knows what a racer needs and wants in order to function properly. There are details that a non-racer would think unimportant whereas Douglas and his co-racers think them vital.

It was from his friends’ and his needs that Douglas was founded. By providing themselves with customized parts assembled using a theoretical framework and testing it for themselves, they know firsthand whether any improvement needs to be made.

Two of the best-sellers of Douglas are the Douglas Aluminum AlumLite SSA and the Magnesium Go Kart Wheels M Series V. The former is economical with its $35 price whereas the latter is more expensive. Both parts are guaranteed to work with efficiency. The use of aluminum in go kart wheels and other car parts is economical and convenient considering its capacity to withstand heat while being lightweight.

With the development of contemporary parts like these, the users are not burdened by heavy metal and are instead protected by wheels that enable them to drive at lightning speed. Even at the event of collision the driver is protected by the insulated rubber paired with the metal support of the wheels to avoid it from overheating. A new line of wheels are even developed to withstand outdoor and indoor courses.

Add a little awesomeness to your go kart by adding some really great looking wheels.

Go Karts are so much fun but today’s version is somewhat different to the one we made as kids.

Growing up in the Australian bush we had a lot of freedom but not a lot of things so we used to ‘make do’. I will always remember pulling the baby pram apart and using those wheels for our go kart. We put an empty fruit box on top of the axles and a piece of binder twine (very strong string) attached to the front wheels to make them into the steering wheel. Sort of like the reins for a horse!

Needles to say, it didn’t take too long to crash the thing and in the end, we all got tired of making the repairs so we could have a go on it! ~ Argh the memories of childhood….

Yes, they are way different and much fancier than the ones we grew up with.

  • Hello, its really valuable information development of contemporary parts like these can make lots of changes . thank you for sharing.

  • Thanks for the write up. I found out that one of my go-kart wheels was bent and it was negatively affecting the performance. So I agree the wheels are important and unfortunately these days… really break the bank!!
