A little about the go-kart axle.

Each part of the go kart has a specific purpose. The axle is meant to boost the performance of the system by making sure that the force inflicted on the vehicle can be withstood by its support. And because there are different needs for every driver, specialized go kart axle pieces have been created to answer each problem.

The regular axle is one inch, rounded and threaded on each end. The axle that is 1” by 36” standard measures 32 inches from shoulder to shoulder and costs as little as $45. Increments of two inch variations are also available until the 40-inch benchmark for the axel.

The size of the axle depends on the width of the kart, which in turn depends on the torso of the person going to ride it. Before you begin looking for the axle that will look good on the kart, make sure that it is available in the appropriate size to avoid damages on both kart and body. It is always better to look for the size that is not to snug and not too tight. It has to be able to give enough allowances for body movement without feeling too loose.

As a rule in composing a karting ensemble, make sure that all materials complement each other and avoid going for those that are too heavy for the bearings to handle. Any kart made of all heavy materials will not be able to move as fast as those created with aluminum alloy contemporaries. That and a crafty engineering will give you a kart that will live up to your expectations.
